چکیده

This paper studies the load reduction potential of a prototyped “smart” rotor. This is, a rotor where the blades are equipped with a number of control devices that locally change the lift profile on the blade, combined with appropriate sensors and controllers. Experimental models, using dedicated system identification techniques, are developed of a scaled rotating two-bladed “smart” rotor of which each blade is equipped with trailing-edge flaps and strain sensors. A feedback controller based on -loop shaping combined with a fixed-structure feedforward control are designed that minimizes the root bending moment in the flapping direction of the two blades. We evaluated the performance using a number of different realistic load scenarios. We show that with appropriate control techniques the variance of the load signals can be reduced up to 90%.

H∞ Robust Controller Design and Experimental Analysis of Active Magnetic Bearings with Flexible Rotor System

H∞ controller for active magnetic bearings (AMBs) with flexible rotor system was designed in this paper. The motion equations of AMBs and flexible rotor system are built based on finite element methods (FEM). Weighting function matrices of H∞ controller for AMBs are studied for both the sensitivity and the complementary sensitivity of H∞ control theory. The simulation shows that the H∞ control ...

Galloping and VIV control of square-section cylinder utilizing direct opposing smart control force

An adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller (AFSMC) is adopted to reduce the 2D flow-induced vibration of an elastically supported square-section cylinder, free to oscillate in stream-wise andtransverse directions in both lock-in and galloping regions. The AFSMC strategy consists of a fuzzy logic inference system intended to follow a sliding-mode controller (SMC), and a robust control syste...

Analysis of Vibration Characteristics of PD Control Active Magnetic Bearing and Cracked Rotor System (RESEARCH NOTE)

Crack fault of rotor is one of the most prominent problems faced by magnetic bearing rotor system. In order to improve the safety performance of this kind of machinery, it is necessary to research the vibration characteristics of magnetic bearing cracked rotor system. In this paper, the stiffness model of the crack shaft element was established by the strain energy release rate (SERR) theory. T...

Active vibration control of smart building frames by feedback controllers

In this paper the active vibration control of a four-story shear frame instrumented with piezoelectric actuators is presented. The piezoelectric actuators are hosted on the columns in two manners and the produced controlling forces by actuators are considered in the equation of motion. The smart structure modeling and control design is carried out using MATLAB software in state space form. Subs...

Vibration control of an automotive engine using active mounts

In this research, vibration control of national engine (EF7) using active mounts is studied for two different mounting layouts. The first layout is based on the current engine mounting of national engine (system of three passive mounts), but the hydraulic mount is substituted by an active mount. The other mounting layout contains 4 mounts, 2 of which are active ones and the others are passive m...
